The Need for Speed - Carbon update patch 1.4 fixes
a number of issues in the game. This particular download will only work
with the US English version. Do not apply it German, French, UK or
other non-US releases. It is an update that mainly improves stability
under Windows Vista, but it can fix problems that are non-Vista
specific. For Vista, it will fix these crashes, but don’t expect to
know what they mean: ‘Need for Speed Carbon crashes on bootup on Vista
with the patch 1.3 installed due to an allocator mismatch between bware
and renderware. Patch 1.4 fixes the Vista crash by fixing the mismatch.
The Need for Speed Carbon .viv (EA Link version) crashes upon bootup on
Vista due to an incompatible version of the PACE DRM Tool. Patch 1.4
utilises an updated, Vista compatible PACE DRM Tool.’ There, we hope
